Revised docs for domain intelligence in the AI era

Revised is domain intelligence for the AI era. Before an AI cites a domain, check its record: who links to it, what it published over the years, and whether that history is clean. Today that is the expired-domain directory, a REST API and an MCP server, plus checks you can run on any name you type. These docs cover reading all of it from code and from AI assistants.

The directory is a list of expired domain names that still carry backlinks. Domains lapse every day. A site collects links for a decade, the renewal notice bounces, and the name drops back into the available pool. The links do not expire when the registration does: they keep pointing at the name, and whoever registers it next inherits them. Revised finds those names, screens them, and publishes what it knows: referring domains, backlinks, linking sites, archived-snapshot counts, Agent Citability (preview), visitor traffic and a Revised Score.

Pick an interface

All three read the same directory, under the same account and the same limits. MCP calls and REST calls share one rate-limit counter.

What you can do with it

• Search the whole directory. Filter by category, TLD, domain age, Revised Score, referring-domain band, linking site, visitor traffic and estimated value. See Filter the directory.
• Read banded metrics, not fake point estimates. referring_domains is "100-250", not 137. Metrics explained covers what each one measures and where it comes from.
• Read a domain’s record. Agent Citability (preview) scores how deeply sources that AI assistants cite link to a domain. It does not predict citation. The methodology is published in full.
• Check any name you type. Estimate a name’s value, screen its archived history for spam, or run a paid deep check of its links. None of these read the directory, so they work for any domain. See Checks on any domain and Credits.
• Reveal and hold. Disclose a masked name with one call, and reserve a listing inside the directory while you research it. See Reveals and holds.
• Keep a local copy current. An incremental change feed on the Business plan, including tombstones for listings that have left. See Incremental sync.

Two things to know before you start

Keys are free on every plan, and there is no anonymous access. Create a key at getrevised.com/account. Every endpoint answers 401 without one. Your plan changes throughput, how many names you may reveal in a month, and whether you can hold listings — not which endpoints you can call, with the single exception of the since change feed. Plans and limits has every number.

tier decides what you may republish. open names are already published on the Revised site and may be passed on. regular and featured names are masked on the site and are disclosed to API callers under the API terms only. Read Republishing rules before you put a name anywhere public.
