Expired domains by backlink source

Expired domains with backlinks from Wikipedia, Hacker News, Reddit, GitHub, universities and press. Referring domains and history verified. Browse free.

This page groups the directory by the 164 well-known sites that currently link to at least one expired domain listed here. Pick a source to browse every expired domain with a backlink from it.

Every link is found in our own web crawl, rather than claimed. Availability is re-checked against the live DNS root over DNS-over-HTTPS, and a listing that turns out to be registered is removed. Site history comes from archived captures: the archived snapshot count and the span of years the site was captured. Revised Score blends link-graph centrality, referring domains and site history into one 0 to 100 grade, computed across the whole directory.

Universities, encyclopedias and government bodies rarely link to a site that was not a source worth citing, which is why domains with those links are listed here at all. Communities and code hosts say a site had an audience. Both are named on every listing beside the referring domain band.

Frequently asked questions

What is a referring source?

A referring source is a well-known site that links to the domain: an encyclopedia, a university, a community such as Hacker News or Reddit, a code host, or a news organization. Every listing names its notable sources. This page groups the directory by those names so you can browse the domains linked by any one of them.

Where do the backlink sources come from?

From our own web crawl. For each expired domain in the directory the graph is queried for pages that link to it, and the linking domains are matched against a list of recognised sources. A source appears on this page only while at least one live listing carries a link from it.

Which backlink sources are worth the most?

Read the source with the rest of the listing. A link from a university department or an encyclopedia article is strong evidence the site was cited as a source. A link from a community is evidence of an audience. Neither replaces the site history, the referring domain band or the Revised Score, all of which are on every listing.

Reveals, not browsing

Searching is free. Reveals are what a plan buys.

Every metric on these listings is open to everyone, signed in or not, and so is every search, filter and sort. A reveal hands you the masked name and a fresh availability check, and then the domain is yours to register at any registrar. A free account gets 10 reveals a month.

Availability is re-checked the moment you reveal a name. They go once someone else registers them.
