Spam History Checker
Free spam history check. Enter a domain to see what it was year by year in the web archive, and whether that past includes spam.
Enter a domain and we read what the web archive captured for it in each year. A model classifies a sample of those pages and tells you whether the name was a real site, a parked page or something worse.
The check takes about 20 seconds. It reads archived snapshots, so it is a screen and not proof, and the result comes with its caveats.
What this tool does
- What it returns
- A verdict with its reasons and caveats, a year-by-year timeline with a replay link for each captured year, the flips between years, and how much of the archive was sampled.
- Where the data comes from
- The web archive's snapshots of the name, read by a model that classifies a sample of pages for each year. It reads the name you enter and nothing else.
- Cost and limits
- Free, no account. A per-visitor rate limit applies and a short check confirms you are a person. A check takes about 20 seconds. It reads archived snapshots, so a name the archive barely captured gets a thin answer, and an empty history is not a clean one.
Revised is a directory of expired domains that still carry backlinks. It does not sell or register domains: you register a name at any registrar you like.

What a domain was, year by year
What we measure
A result is a verdict, the reasons for it, a timeline and the coverage behind it. Here is what each part means.
The verdict
One of six: clean, content changed hands, spam history, restricted history, no history, or inconclusive. It comes with the reasons, the years they apply to, and the caveats. Read the caveats with the verdict.
The timeline
For each year the web archive captured the name, a row says whether it was a real site or a parked page, whether any spam signal showed, what topics it covered and how sure the model was. Each captured year links to the archive's own replay so you can look yourself.
The flips
A flip is a change between two captured years: a site that went parked, a parked name that came back as a site, a site that turned to spam, or a change of topic. A name that changed hands often shows up here first.
The coverage
How many years were captured and how many pages were sampled. A name the archive barely saw gets a thin answer, and a thin answer is not a clean bill of health.

How this spam history checker works
What the check reads, what it can and cannot tell you, and what to do with each verdict.
What the check reads
The web archive keeps snapshots of pages over the years. For the name you enter, we take a sample of the pages it captured in each year and a model reads them. It decides whether each year looked like a real site, a parked page or something else, and whether it showed signs of spam such as scraped or spun text, scam or counterfeit pages, hacked or doorway pages, or cloaking.
What it cannot tell you
It sees only what the archive captured. A site that was never captured, or captured in only a few years, leaves gaps, and the verdict says so. It does not know what a search engine thinks of the name, and it cannot see a manual action. A clean result means no spam showed in the pages we read. It is a screen built from archived snapshots, not proof.
Reading a verdict
A spam history or restricted history verdict is a reason to look at the replay links before you do anything else. Content changed hands means the subject or the owner looks to have changed, which matters if you want the links to still make sense. No history means the archive holds nothing readable, which tells you little either way. Inconclusive means the evidence did not settle it.
Using it on an expired domain
Links earned by a name carry the past of that name. Check the history, then check the backlinks and the registry status on the same name before you commit to it. Every listing in the Revised directory goes through a spam screen before it is published, but a screen is not a guarantee, and a name you find elsewhere needs the same look.
Frequently asked questions
How do I check a domain's spam history?
Enter the domain above. We read a sample of what the web archive captured for each year and a model classifies it. You get a verdict, the reasons, a year-by-year timeline with replay links and the caveats. The check takes about 20 seconds.
How reliable is the result?
It is a screen, not proof. It sees only what the archive captured, and it reads a sample of pages for each year. A name with few captures gets a thin answer. Use the replay links to look at the years it flags, and treat a clean result as the absence of evidence in what we read.
Does no history mean the domain is clean?
No. A name with no readable captures gets a no history verdict. That tells you the archive has nothing to read, not that the name was never used. Check the registry status and the backlinks too.
Is this spam history checker free?
Yes. No signup and no card. A short check confirms you are a person, and a per-visitor limit applies. For automated use there is an API and an MCP tool with a rate limit per plan, including Free.
Does it look the domain up in the Revised directory?
No. The check reads the name you type and nothing else, so it is the same whether or not a name is in our directory.
