Website Technology Lookup

Find out what a website is built with. CMS, framework, hosting, CDN, analytics and payments for any domain. Free, no signup.

Enter a domain and the lookup lists the technologies the site exposes: the content management system or framework it runs, the server and CDN in front of it, the analytics and marketing scripts it loads, and the security and payment services it uses.

Detection is by fingerprint. Every match is a signature the site actually sent to a crawler, so the result is what could be seen from outside, not everything the site runs. The page explains what that includes and what it can miss.

Technology Detection

What technologies we detect

Four categories of detection, all read from the fingerprints a site exposes to a crawler.

CMS and frameworks

WordPress, Shopify, Webflow, Drupal, Ghost and the other content management systems, plus frameworks such as React, Next.js, Vue and Angular.

Servers and hosting

AWS, Cloudflare, Nginx, Apache, Vercel, Netlify and other hosting providers, CDNs and web servers, read from headers and asset paths.

Analytics and marketing

Google Analytics, Hotjar, HubSpot, Mailchimp and the other tracking, analytics and marketing scripts a page loads.

Security and payments

TLS and HSTS settings, Stripe, PayPal and the other security features and payment processors a site exposes.

Technology detection

How this technology lookup works

Fingerprints, not guesses. What the lookup reads, what it can miss, and how to use the result.

How a website's technology is detected

Most software leaves a signature on the pages it serves. WordPress puts wp-content in asset paths. Shopify sets its own cookies and serves from its CDN. Next.js ships a script tag every page shares. A web server names itself in the Server header. The index behind this lookup crawls the site, matches the HTML, HTTP headers, cookies, script URLs and meta tags against a library of these fingerprints, and records every match. We query that index for the domain you enter and show what it holds.

What the result shows

Technologies grouped by category: content management and frameworks, servers and hosting, analytics and marketing, security and payments. A count of technologies and of categories. A global domain rank from the same index where it has one, which is a rough popularity position rather than an authority score. And any social profile links the crawl found on the site.

What it can miss

Detection reads what the site sends to a crawler. A site behind a login, a site that serves different markup to bots, or a stack that hides its signatures will show fewer technologies than it uses. A hand-built site with no framework can show almost nothing. The index is refreshed periodically, not live, so a site that migrated last week may still show its old platform. A short result is a limit of detection, not a verdict on the site.

What people use it for

Competitive research is the common case: which platform a site in your market runs, which analytics it loads, whether it sells through Shopify or WooCommerce. It is also used before rebuilding on an expired domain, to see what the last site ran and whether anything of it survives on the live name. Read the archived history in the expired domain checker alongside it, and the guide to rebuilding on a domain you have bought is linked below.

When the lookup fails

The technology profile comes from a third-party index that we query live. When that index does not answer, the page says so under the form and shows nothing. It never shows a cached or guessed stack. The backlink checker, domain authority checker and expired domain checker do not use that index and are unaffected.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How do I find out what a website is built with?

Enter the domain above. The lookup reads the fingerprints a site leaves in its HTML, HTTP headers, cookies, script URLs and meta tags, matches them against a library of known technologies, and lists every match by category: CMS, framework, hosting, analytics, security and payments.

Is this website technology lookup free?

Yes. No signup, no card, and no usage cap beyond a per-visitor rate limit. Enter a domain and you get its stack.

Which CMS platforms can it detect?

WordPress, Shopify, Wix, Squarespace, Webflow, Drupal, Joomla and Ghost, among others. E-commerce platforms too: Magento, WooCommerce and BigCommerce.

Why does the lookup show nothing for a site?

Either the index has not crawled the site, or the site exposes few signatures: a login wall, bot-specific markup, or a hand-built stack with no framework. A short or empty result is a limit of detection, not proof that the site uses nothing.

Is this like BuiltWith or Wappalyzer?

Yes. It does the same job: working out what a site is built with from the fingerprints it exposes. Ours is free with no lookup limit, which makes it useful for quick checks.

Whatever you build with, the domain underneath it can arrive with links already pointing at it. The directory lists expired domains with their referring domains, site history and age, spam sources filtered out.
