This page groups the directory by the 107 well-known sites that currently link to at least one expired domain listed here. Pick a source to browse every expired domain with a backlink from it.
Every link is found in the Common Crawl web graph, a public crawl of the web, rather than claimed. Availability is re-checked against the live DNS root over DNS-over-HTTPS, and a listing that turns out to be registered is removed. History comes from the Internet Archive: the Wayback Machine snapshot count and the span of years the site was captured. Revised Score blends link-graph centrality, referring domains and archive history into one 0 to 100 grade, computed across the whole directory.
Universities, encyclopedias and government bodies rarely link to a site that was not a source worth citing, which is why domains with those links are listed here at all. Communities and code hosts say a site had an audience. Both are named on every listing beside the referring domain band.

From the Common Crawl web graph, a public crawl of the web. For each expired domain in the directory the graph is queried for pages that link to it, and the linking domains are matched against a list of recognised sources. A source appears on this page only while at least one live listing carries a link from it.
Read the source with the rest of the listing. A link from a university department or an encyclopedia article is strong evidence the site was cited as a source. A link from a community is evidence of an audience. Neither replaces the archive history, the referring domain band or the Revised Score, all of which are on every listing.
